Nowadays I do MCME's finance, manage the IT infrastructure, oversee the strategic direction, scout and assign administrators and do public relations. Growing up with Lord of the Rings, my interest peaked! After some discussion and finding willing people to start off the project, the first blocks were being built shortly after. This map was created by Yotan over the course of 3 years. One of those was recreating the entire world of Middle-Earth. The download file is 4GB zipped and once unzipped it is 12GB This is an exciting Minecraft map that is an exact heightmap copy of Earth scaled at 1:1000 That is more then 200.000.000.000 Blocks Big. While browsing the minecraftforums, I found some great ideas and reached out to some of the posters with the question if I can do something to make it real. I wanted to offer my time and resources to an idea that I would find interesting. The city was founded by Isildur and Anárion near the end of the Second Age, and ruling Gondor jointly, Osgiliath was. It is situated on the river Anduin and over the river runs a great bridge with in the middle of it the Dome of the Stars, where the Palantír was housed. I wanted to create a very small community of people who would have fun playing together and doing something constructive instead of annoying other players. Osgiliath is the former capital of Gondor, and is now largely in ruin. Its senior members emphasise that it is not a role-playing server, nor does it seek to be its own game. Minecraft Middle Earth is an absolutely massive, sprawling project that seeks to recreate major landmarks, terrain, caves, castles, towns, farms and more. I wanted something more serious than constantly redoing servers and having to reset the world. Sure, I guess if you’re into that sort of thing. These were fairly popular but managing a server with multiple people at that would just end up in tons of griefing. I hosted various Minecraft servers which were available for everyone to join, offering a wide range of RPG plugins and simple mods. During my stay there among all those technical people, I really got interested into the aspects of running a Minecraft server for myself, and that is when I decided to rent myself a server box at a data center. The server was run by Grum, who now works at Mojang. I mainly played multiplayer in that time (alpha oof! ) even though it was terrible unstable, I had tons of fun!Īround that time I also became a moderator for the Tweakcraft Minecraft server, a server being hosted by people from. I started playing the game, and I immediately loved the endless possibilities and the social aspect of the game. It all began when I was introduced to Minecraft around June or August 2010. I founded this community on October 10 2010.
